Thirteen students went with my wife and me to France during Spring Break 2002.  Here are some of their comments:

"There's plenty of free time to enjoy the sights and sounds on your own and with your own little clique."

"If you're honestly interested in it, there's a reservoir of knowledge and history to tap, and it's fairly easy to do so."

"It's one thing to read about history in school, it's completely different to experience it first hand. These trips allow for that."

"Don't worry if you don't know anyone on the trip, you'll make friends immediately that you'll probably keep even after you go home."

"There is enough structure to help you see what you need to see but also enough freedom to be able to see want you want to see."

"The trip to France was honestly one of the greatest experiences in my short life. Not only did I get to experience another country and another culture, but I go to experience it with people who, while I knew them almost not at all before the trip, I became great friends with and will get to know even better in the future."

"Kaboom! Prior to explosion I was merely peeking into a postcard, a pointless systematic observation group picture, when finally I turned around and noticed for the first time that I was standing in the center of Paris, below the shimmering twilight enigma of the fantastic Eiffel Tower. Reality becomes overwhelming."

"Traveling to distant places seemed to be a far off endeavor before getting htis chance to visit France. Getting an opportunity handed to you such as visiting anohter country unfolds a plethora of incredible new knowledge and history. Doing this trip opened my eyes to new people and the culture which cannot be seen from a classroom in the Boro."

"Talk all you want about foreign countries, but unless you've been, you don't really know anything about it. When you visit another country, you embrace another culture whether you like it or not. These days it's more important than ever to remind yourself that the United States is not the only landmass on the globe. You will learn a thing or two about how the world works, and it might even be fun. And it beats being home anyway. This week was one of the best of my life, even though many of my closest friends were back home. We all had a great time and I think we'd all agree the week went by too fast. Tres bien!"
