These 25 students traveled with Mr. and Mrs. Puma, Mr. Layton and me to Venice, Florence and Rome in July 2003.

"Deciding to go on the Italy trip with Fenster has probably been one of the best decisions I've made in my 18 years. While I knew a little about the country and the history, being able to see the landmarks and the coutnry first hand was just a mind-blowing experience. The Pantheon, the Colosseum, the canals of Venice... they just aren't real until you see them for yourself. Having never been outside the continent before, 200 years of American history seemed like a lot. But when you compare it to the thousands of years of history of Italy and the rest of Europe, it just seems so insignificant. I had so much fun on this trip, and it was worth so much more than I actually paid. To me it was the closing chapter of my high school career, and it was the best ending I can think of." -- Rob Lazar

"This was my first time being out of the country besides Mexico. It was wonderful... well, after the 100 hours of flight travel. Overall I had a great time, enjoyed the company and really enjoyed the food. It was amazing to see all the different aspects of Italy's culture and its people. This trip has also confirmed that I want to study abroad during college. Great trip, good times, and awesome memories." -- Katie Brock

"I absolutely had a great time on this trip. I came into it thinking I'd be bored, but this trip was so much fun and I'll never forget it. With all the billions of pictures we took I'm sure none of us will. This was a great way to spend a vacation and an awesome trip to go on before college." -- Ilya Livshits

"As I leave this beautiful country, I can't stop thinking about one word: opportunity. How I've had two wonderful opportunities to travel abroad and how I've taken advantage of both of them. And I think of all the things in my life that are different and better because I took advantage of these opportunities." -- Charlie Kratovil

"This trip was a blast! It is always a great experience when you travel out of the country and visit other cultures. The way of life is unique and the cities are amazing. It is a lot of fun to see in person the things you only hear about in school. It was a great time and you will have memories that last forever. Ciao." -- Nick Confuorto

"This trip was a wonderful experience that I will never forget. At first I had my doubts about whether I would find enjoyment when I went to museums since I have no knowledge about art. However, just by visiting I was able to develop an appreication for all aspects of Italian culture." -- Nicole Humphrey

"Italy was fantastic: good food, great tour guide, good enough hotels -- I recommend traveling this way for all Mr. Fenster's future students." -- Erin Flaherty

"This was a once in a lifetime experience that I'm glad to have been a part of... The trip was long enough to see a lot and experience Italian culture as well as to exhaust me to the point of wanting to go home. This was probably the best vacation I've taken with a good balance of ups and downs to keep me on my toes." -- Allison Gretsuk

"When an experience allows you to reaize things about the world you never knew existed, leaving you 'changed but unchanged,' it was worth experiencing. Italy showed me how little I really knew and completely altered my future plans. I was awestruck for 8 days. I had to make an effort to keep my jaw from remaining dropped. Florence has become my favorite city in the world and will hopefully be the site of my semester abroad in college. The trip was an amazing opportunity, one that no one should pass up." -- John Hreno

"As my first time traveling out of the country I had a great time. I was introduced to a new culture. I saw a a wonderful array of art and history." -- Dan Halverson

"Italy was a great place to visit... all over Italy the people either knew how to speak English or were willing to take the time to understand what you needed... Enjoy the scenery and don't stay behind your camera the whole time, live the experiences yourself!" -- Patrick Bieli

"If you visited all the sites with enthusiasm, interest, an open mind, and an appreciation for your surroundings, you could make this the best possible trip. I definitely had amazing trip. I made the most of my few precious hours in Italy and tried to see as much as I could see... I would recommend this trip to anyone." -- Jean Hsu

"Viva Italia! This was definitely an experience that will not be forgotten -- beautiful people, rich culture, gorgeous landscapes, enjoyable company, good food and new experiences galore. It truly was an awesome opportunity to be both exposed to and absorbed by the culture of another country. It's not to be missed." -- Lauren Keinath

"The history, landscapes, people and culture was unique to the country and worth any amount of money to be absorbed in. Go with an open mind, try new food, and speak the language even if they speak English back!" -- Catherine Kinrade

"I'm glad I got the chance to enjoy a trip to Italy with some friends and some people who I got to know better. It was different than a vacation with my family because I went with a whole group of people my age, so our interests were more in tune. I learned some crazy cool stuff, and had a blast seeing the sights. The trip was exciting, interesting and fun. I'm glad I didn't miss it." -- Nora McBurnett

"This trip has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Italy is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and it isn't until I actually saw all the things I saw that I realized how amazing their history and culture is. The tour guide and chaperons were all great, and I can say I left Italy knowing more about the world. In the end of this trip, I can look backa nd remember good times and awe-inspiring places and I'm thankful I got to experience that." -- Navya Sosale

"I learned more in the span of 9 days and enjoyed it more than I thought possible. The history and culture of Italy is mindblowing and I would do it all over again in a second." -- Katie Zobre

"I'm extremely glad I came on this trip. I've always wanted to visit Florence, which is even more amazing than I thought it would be. I was worried that we wouldn't really have time to do much except for seeing the major tourist sites in one city and then be shuttled off to see the next one, but we did have time to go out and just absorb the culture, especially in Florence." -- Aikta Wahi

"It's amazing how a trip for less than 10 days can do so much. This trip has definitely surpassed my expectations of traveling in a fairly large student group. I've not only gained a new perspective on another country's lifestyle and history but I've also become closer to my friends and formed new friendships along the way." -- Kanika Wahi

"Not being a sightseer, I wasn't sure how much i was going to enjoy this trip to Italy. Thankfully, it was one of the most rewarding experiences that I've ever had. I was able to take in numerous historical sights and landmarks while I still was able to have a great time with my friends and the rest of the group. Visiting Italy broadened my horizons and made me understand and involve myself in the culture of the country. The tour organizer Mr. Fenster did a magnificent job along with our guide and the other chaperons. Good times!" -- Tim Pultorak

"I can honestly say that the past 8 days have comprised one of the most amazing experiences. Italy is sheer gorgeousness, full of its rich culture, incredible history and friendly people. The natural beauty, artistic masterpieces and famous landmarks are completely awe-inspiring and can boast an aura that nothing in America is even comparable to. My first visit to Europe has been extremely rewarding and has only furthered my enthusiasm for future travel abroad." -- Sarah Erdman

"The ability to visit Venice, Florence and Rome all in one trip was amazing. I was absolutely astounded by everything I saw. I doubt I will have an opportunity like this again. Our tour guide was informative and friendly, and our bus for the duration of the tour was new and extremely comfortable. The sights are amazing, the experience was unparalleled and it is a trip I will never forget!" -- Nick Starzynski

"Enter Florence, stage left, and I think so far my mind is 98% 'I'm in Italy." Step off the bus -- BAM! -- 100% beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, reminiscent of the France land where buildings aren't imitations, people aren't actors, and the boats aren't rides. Some say it is surreal, when in fact, it is the realest culture could be. These are foundations, the stones, the streets, and the canvases awesome people graced centuries ago! America, you prepubescent teenager with nothing to call your own! My days in Italy crescendo and amaze me, and I am certain that this is the greatest place I have ever been to in my entire life." -- Lindsay Sanwald

"Just wanted to thank you for organizing such an excellent trip. Catherine had a wonderful time. We sat at the kitchen table for two hours yesterday talking about frescos, mosaics and renaissance art! I was flabbergasted ... who is this girl who came back from Italy? Seriously, it has been a tremendous experience for her and I am extremely grateful for the excellent care and supervision you provided. I hope you found the trip as rewarding as the students." -- Julie and David Kinrade
